  1. A Canon Baby’s First Onesie

July 28, 2011 by Amanda Moncus

Today we received a lovely surprise gift in the mail. It’s our first onesie for the baby and of course it is adorable! Our friends sent a card along with it that says, “Girl or boy, we know you will be having a Canon baby, so we thought this would be fun for you!”

Thank you to Sarah and Brent for the sweet gift! We can’t wait for the baby to get to wear it!

  2. We’re Having a Little Monc!

July 28, 2011 by Amanda Moncus

I don’t know who is out there reading this, especially since I haven’t posted in months, but… case you haven’t heard the news, we’re expecting a baby in February! We shared the news with our friends and family after we got our first glimpse of our little one. It was so amazing to see and hear the little heartbeat for the first time. Our next appointment will be next week and I can’t wait to see the baby again and see how much it’s grown!

  3. My Valentine

February 16, 2011 by Amanda Moncus

My goodness, time has flown by.

A couple weeks ago I went on the perfect Valentine date and wrote about it the next day, but for some reason I’m just now posting the story!

Chris told me awhile ago that he had something planned for Valentine’s Day and that it was a surprise, so I had no idea what to expect. I was only instructed to “wear something warm.” So Valentine’s Day afternoon, I left the house and went to a local coffee shop while Chris made the final preparations for our date.

When I got back home, I had to close my eyes while Chris took some things to the car, then we hopped in and drove away. A few minutes later, we were driving onto Jekyll Island, and then arrived at St. Andrew’s beach. Loaded down with a picnic basket and beach blanket, we walked to the beach where we witnessed a beautiful sunset and dolphins playing in the water.

It was perfect. We ate pasta and salad, had sparkling grape juice and watched the sun go down and the stars come out. It was a lovely evening.

I am so grateful for my wonderful, sweet husband who took the time to plan everything, set things up and surprise me with a romantic dinner. I couldn’t wish for anything better.

  4. New Year’s Resolutions

February 12, 2011 by Amanda Moncus

I know it’s already half way through February, but I think now is a good time to talk about New Year’s resolutions. I didn’t make any. I think maybe I used to, but who really sticks to them? What’s the point?

I realize that even though I didn’t officially make any resolutions on January 1, I do look at my life every once and try to set some goals. A few days ago I rediscovered a journal entry I had written two years ago titled “Life Goals”. Out of the 18 things I’d written down, I’ve actually accomplished 3, and started on some others. That might seem low, but I feel pretty good about it so far. Over the past couple years I have become a professional photographer, run a photography business, and become a mentor (sort of).

Things on the list I’m still working on – learn another language (I’m wavering between Italian and Japanese), learn to play guitar (or maybe bass?), vacation overseas (someday), and have a neat and organized house (I’m getting there!)

There are more things on the list, but my interests and priorities have changed somewhat. It’s funny, but I think my biggest goal at the time was to live life to the fullest, with purpose, and to be happy – but that isn’t exactly what I wrote. I did write

“I think I’m finally realizing that living isn’t something you can do passively. It has to be done with purpose.”

That’s what I’ve really been trying to do lately – living on purpose. That may seem an odd phrase, but it makes sense to me. My newest goals are sort of a part of that. To have meaningful relationships, be more creative, and keep a blog. These things are just a small part of living life to the fullest – on purpose.

Does anyone else have any life goals or New Year’s resolutions that you’re working on?
